Monday

Functional keyboard for non-pianists with Kate Parsons

A new offering being held in the new Keyboard lab.  The class will offer the basics on chords, bass lines and accompaniment skills.  The class offers individual and group instruction  for ten weeks for all levels and ages and will be held Mondays at 4 pm.

10 Classes: $180 for adults, $150 for students

Jazz Vocal Repertoire Class

Learning songs, writing charts, working with rhythm sections, counting off tunes and improvising will be covered in all classes with a focus on Standards and Bossa Novas including songs by Victor Young, Jobim and Bob Dorough.  High School and College Students are especially encouraged.

Mondays at 5pm
10 classes:  $250 adults/$200 students

Tuesday

Beginning Rock Band

A new ensemble geared to Middle School age and younger aspiring rockers.  The class will be based on rehearsal techniques,  musician basics and learning classic songs by rock bands that have withstood the test of time, expect something by the Beatles and some surprises.

Jazz Ensembles

Study jazz by listening to specific pieces, sharing historical information, and playing classic arrangements and compositions, these courses are in depth studies of jazz masters. Basic musicianship and jazz knowledge are suggested;

All instruments, coached by Jamie MacDonald for 10 sessions ending in a concert.- basic musicianship and jazz knowledge suggested

Separate Classes offered Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 5pm
10 classes: $250 Adults/$200 students

Wednesday

Jazz Improvisation – Working on Changes and Rhythm
This will be a new class in a workshop environment.  Bebop Melodies will be worked on but the class will primarily focus on soloing and techniques for further clarity in ideas and communication with no final concert.  This class would work well concurrently with other jazz ensembles to reinforce ideas being taught in a more open environment.

Thursday
             
‘Ukelele Ensemble  with Ben Carr
Learning  music through the joy of the ‘ukulele, classes will focus on singing, picking melodies,  strumming,  and ensemble playing.   Plus a whole lot of fun!   No prior music experience or knowledge necessary.   A great introduction to music and the ‘ukulele.

Adults $200,  Students $180
Saturday
Youth Jazz Ensemble

Geared to school aged (18 and under) musicians who like to play and want to get better. The music will be challenging but fun and will not always swing but will always rock. Coached by Jamie MacDonald for 10 sessions ending in a concert. All instruments – Ages 12-18

Saturdays 10:30 am
10 classes:  $180
