On the second Sunday of
each month, The Open Music Collective, will host a Jazz Jam at 2pm facilitated by Jamie MacDonald.
A Jazz Jam is an opportunity for instrumentalists and singers to play and learn bebop, standards,
or other types of jazz music. In an organized environment like this, musicians of all levels are able to learn by playing
together and listening to each other.
The benefits to participating in a jam session include:
·
Getting to know
other local musicians
· Learning
new tunes
· Gain experience
improvising, thus improving
· Growing
comfortable playing with new people and taking risks in front of other people
·
Playing as part of a group
A piano, drums, PA, and some amplifiers will be provided.
Musicians should bring charts, their instruments, and a willingness to take risks and receive feedback.
Sessions
will be in the Cotton Mill in studio A335
